After a career in international business, Winter took up studies at the Camberwell College of Art in London. Concentrating initially on photography, he specialized in portraiture. The transition into printmaking started out as an experiment, but it has since taken over from photography as his main focus.
The photographic origins are always evident in Winter's work and he is continually exploring new ideas while perfecting the hybrid between photography and conventional printmaking techniques. He has exhibited at Mall Galleries in London and is represented by Galería La Pinacoteca in El Salvador and Galería Istmo in Granada, Nicaragua.
