Derek Chambers was born in Ilford 1937. In 1952 he started work as a messenger in a London advertising agency. In 1962 he formed a partnership as a creative consultant in Mayfair. 15 years later he started a new graphic design partnership in Soho. This partnership lasted until 1994, when he moved to Aldeburgh, Suffolk, to concentrate on drawing and painting.
Derek has had several one-man shows in Aldeburgh. Recently, in 2008, he shared a portrait exhibition with his friend Peter Polaine.
His work has also been exhibited at: Royal Watercolour Society, (Prizewinner 2008), Royal Academy Summer Exhibitions, The Federation of British Artists, Mall Galleries: New English Art Club, Discerning Eye, Singer & Friedlander, Royal Institute of Painters in Watercolours, National Print & Originals, Royal Society of Marine Artists, Royal Society Of Portrait Painters, Eastern Open,(prizewinner 2003).
